Savvi Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 I need to stamp my chassis plate for my mk1, it was lost when i bought the car. I know it doesn't have to have it for Mot etc but wanted to fit a new one. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what letters / numbers i need to stamp ? It's a 1970 Mk1 estate 1300 deluxe, in the pale blue (colour of the old Police cars) i have bought the earlier plate as i believe thats what it would have had. Thanks

Admin Vista Posted April 24, 2010 Admin Report Posted April 24, 2010 Does this pic help? Note, the plate changed in Aug 1970 so check your month of construction for what plate is appropriate Going with the earlier tyope plate you've bought, the details I reckon you need and you've provided enough info to determine are below: Drive: 1 Engine: S or T (probably S) Trans: 1 Axle: Insert appropriate code for your diff ratio Trim: Assuming it’s black, up to 08/70 would have been D401 for black PVC or from 08/70 AA for black PVC, A1 for Black cloth. (can’t help with other colours sorry) For vehicle no yours would be BB43K*XXXXX *insert corresponding month of manufacture XXXXX insert 5 digit serial no Paint code: Insert appropriate code for your colour
Savvi Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Spot on I'm sure mines the one on the right, i just need to find out the paint code numbers.
