corsair66 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 been looking everywhere for these, there the fine threaded nut that goes on top of the strut, it sits over the lug, cant find them anywhere any ideas? I hope I am wrong but I bought a pair of strut inserts for sons Escort without nuts. Ended up going to a pal who runs a small engineering shop and he told me they were unusual in that they were AMERICAN EXTRA FINE thread and almost impossible to find. He ended up making some for me. hunted Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 i got some just from the local auto supply shop. high tensile ones. nothing fancy/unusual about them just take the shock in and find what fits if you dont know the thread
tom28 Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 i use mine everyday and i dont have spare insert so im kinda stuck
petrolhead Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Type in ' stagonset ' in to google and click on the link. They do superb Stainless nuts and bolts and they deliver pronto. For the strut tops, I think some are metric some are imperial, so count the number of threads per inch (tpi) and measure the nut you have across the flats. Stagonset have the dimensions so that you can identify the thread by matching up your dimensions. You want to go for the flat nut which is half depth. If you've narrowed it down to a metric thread and an imperial just buy 2 of each, it is easier.
