I am thinking about getting one of these for my 3.0 Capri.

The rev limiter is a no brainer but does anyone have any experience of the launch control? It is basically a lower rev limit operated by holding down a button.

I thought it might make watching the lights at the drag strip easier if I didn`t need to keep an eye on the rev counter aswell.

you are aware a rev limiter will only save you while engine is under loads, so if you miss a gear on the down shift and buzz the motor it will do jack shit to save the engine being over revved

If you miss a gear and buzz the engine the limiter will limit the revs.

 

If you select the wrong gear ie a lower one when you wanted a higher one then it will do jack shit to save the engine being over revved.

what Steve said, and yes as i understand them you rev to what you want to launch at hold the button and it wont go past it

 

once the cars launched you let go and it caries on

Yes that right, it is adjustable so you can hold the rpm steady at say 3800 while you watch the christmas tree start lights, then as soon as you are moving you release the button and revert to the upper rev limit.

I have decided to get one so hopefully it might even arrive in time for North Weald on Sunday.

Got it fitted now,I have wired it into the handbrake light so I can hold the revs where I want without looking at the rev counter ( handy for staging) but as soon as I let off the handbrakeI have full revs again.

I like that idea, (I dont remember if the mk1 escort has a parking brake light :? ) so u dont have to press the button. how you find it? seen a vid on youtube and sounds the nuts
