Oh the joys of classic motoring...

One of the leaf springs is broken on my Capri, and as we know when they are the car drives like a pig! So I ordered new single leafs, poly bushes, and lowering kit (just because)... I got the bushes in, which wasn't to painful, but imagine my frustration when I found that somebody has welded a plate over the access section to the front bolt on the leaf spring! So obviously I didn't get it done. That was time out in the rain spent for no reason!

 

I adjusted my handbrake while I was there so it wasn't a total loss So now I have to wait until I can get it up on a ramp and have the plate removed, do the springs, and get it welded up where it needs it.

hmmm, i have a horrible feeling thats what i've done to mine. at least you're safe in the knowledge that you aren't the dummy responsible, unlike myself! D'oh!

I thought Ford welded that plate there themselves.

They are not the easiest things to get at.

There should be an access hole that you fit a tool of some kind to get on the bolt.

 

I got round it by buying a socket and welding a flat piece of steel bar to it
