im just curious what 4 cylinder cars this was fitted to ? i have just removed a faulty one from the crossflow wondered its origins ? its has a module box with it with about 10 wires in it and still on vac adv on the dizzy ?

 

 

 

also there was a wire on the carb than ran from the coil + but it gets hot so ive unplugged it. i dont know what it is, in the pic its the threaded bolt sticking out of the carb on the black cylinder facing towards the rad ?

duraspark box was fitted to mk2 granadas 2.8 2.3,we use them on banger cars as they are easy to wire & take a normal 12volt feed. There are a few different sorts but all will swap with each other :thumbsup:

That terminal on the carb is for leccy choke (runs off the alt) usually again on V6 cortina and granada :thumbsup:

 

 

cool thanks il just run a cable from the alt main cable to the terminal then :thumbsup:

its a dutton phaeton built from a 1969 1600 cortina and its 1969 on the reg so tax exempt only had it 4 days got spark today so hopefully i can get her fired up tmrw with a bit of luck.

would a 6 cylinder one work on a 4 cly? i guess it just see a signal from the chopper and fires the coil, never tried it TBH :?

 

yeah they will work,we have 1 loom we use for pinto or v6 complete with distributors for both engines. :thumbsup:

OP

you have to run the live through a sensor otherwise the choke will be on all the time, you need a 2 terminal sensor that will lower the voltage as the engine water heats up, either a V6 one or some transit Di's use em for thier coldstart, depending on what thread the hole your gonna use for the sensor is :?:?
