mot tester question

dont know if this is right sectionj but does my boot need to open and close for mot sum shit broke the lock before i got it so iv decided to do away with locks and either do boot pins or leave it shut but it can be open from inside ifneed be

My boot lock hasn't worked for years and always passes its MOT

As far as I remember, it's not tested as it's not a passenger compartment

so how do you go on testing a class 4 van with the back boarded out for tool racks etc

You can refuse to tesd the car if its doesnt open

Just had one do that today

No you test the same as you do the inner sills by squeezing the

 

carpet /sill/suspension mounts.

 

Btw , the testers don't make up the rules,Vosa do.

You would also need to check the fuel tank too.

according to vosa website as long as boot can remain closed position then its cool but the boot can be opened from the inside as the latch still works but the lock is fecked so i did away with lock and put a blanking gromit over it, my daily is in for test in fortnight so ill ask tester then. think its one of those things like many mot question it depends if the tester got his leg over the night before

i already removed wiper, didnt know about fog light thought it had to be there thats why imports have one fitted on arrival,

Older cars don't need a fod light, can't remember what years though.

 

No need to remove the wiper, its not part of the test.
