Whats the difference between 4 linking and 5 linking?

As above ^^^^ ???? cheers And I've gathered there's obviously one more link lol! Just wondering because obviously five linking is for a turreted car but looking at a 4 link kit do you need to be turreted? also what are the benefits?

5th link is the Panhard rod.

If your not turreting you'll have to use slipper springs-these are leaf springs with the front eye (bush) removed with a flat end that rolls between 2 rollers (instead of front bush) allowing the leafs to still work and move through the rollers-otherwise fit turrets & coilover dampers and get rid of the rear leafs.

 

You can still 5 link with leaves.

5 linked is with the 4-link kit and a panhard rod.

 

6 link is with the watts linkage as it is connected to 2 more points of the chassis.
