GJUK Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 Good morning. Right, I'm convinced this must exist or at least be possible to create. If one had a 'random' bolt, and you wanted to find out the size, and thread type, is there such thing as a real scale diagram where you offer up the said bolt to the large diagram, and match it to the picture of the bolt in the picture so you know what to order. Now I know everyone has a bucket of random bolts they just find the right one they need. But does this diagram exist? Thanks Jon
escort21 Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 Measure the outside diameter and the pitch and look in a Zeus book
baz105e Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 there is something called a pitch guage, its like a set of feeler guages but with teeth on the side, you use them to find what thread you need then use a vernier caliper to measure the thickness of the bolt hope this helps
