hi all,

got me 1700xflow all up and running just a few niggles one being the 5spd hitting the tunnel but gonna get the old man to fabricate it,

the biggest problem i have is the damn exhaust, all fitted up nicely but its constantly hitting the handbrake cable so i pushed the cable in and made new exhaust bracket for the rear but now it vibrates against the rear panel and still hits the handbrake cable over the tinyest of bumps

anyone else have this problem? car is lowered 2" all round, with 50 pro tyres so it does sit low but still shouldnt be having this problem is this just the way the system is?..

You pay your (small amount of) money, you take your chances.

Cheap and cheerful and for the price you can't really complain.

To be fair the chance of two of these old cars being exactly the same are quite slim so they can't all be expected to fit perfectly to all cars.

Had a few Ashleys over the years and not had any huge problems that a little bit of persuading wouldn't sort...

I had the same problem.

I ended up fitting it the best i could and then took it to a place near me called Pipecraft who done a blinding job of putting a couple more degrees on the bends and made me some new hangers, it clears everything and no rattles or bangs, well pleased.

But yeah they ain't the best fit but like its been said, you get what you pay for, i had to pay £60 for the above work on top of buying the exhaust but its on now and i'm happy with it.

I bought an Ashley exhaust when I had a crossflow in the Corty, it was never quite right, had a Matt Simpson one fitted when the YB was put in, top quality system, but not cheap! :eeek:

had loads of probs with ashley exhaust, the 4-1 manifold didnt fit so had to have it modded, previous manifold i wrapped and it denigrated under the wrap. the centre pipe has been reshaped, and there wasnt a mount on the car where the one was for the rear box so made my own.

next time would prob have one of them nice balanced 4-1's made and a stainless center and rear box.

BTW you get a twin box or single?

I've just taken mine off, just got fed up with the banging and general noise.

Fitted a standard 1600 ghia one.

as I did too..

It wouldn't take much for ashley to sort out there jig's.. to make a decent fitting..pipe..

but.. if people stay buying them...

nathan willl change...

mate ashley exhausts are shiite.

Go into the 'how to' room and look at matt's (petrolhead) post on making your own under axle system. It costs about £100 and you can get it done in a day if you can weld/got a mate who can weld.

I did it too and you'll be so happy with the results

i would def go for under Axel! would consider it myself either mod mine and add a length where the u bend is or have a new centre section made.
