willmk2 Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 I bought a pair of 1/4 front bumpers for my escort to replace the full length one, the indicator lights don't fit the new bumpers because the bumpers haven't got a bracket for them. Has anyone worked around this? I think I'm going to have to make a bracket but was just wondering if Anyones already achieved it and has any advice?
Admin Vista Posted July 18, 2010 Admin Report Posted July 18, 2010 mk1 or 2? Mk1's don't have indicators in the bumpers and mk2 1/4 bumpers definitely should have mounting points for them? Post up a pic and show us what problem you're having
willmk2 Posted July 18, 2010 Author Report Posted July 18, 2010 heres the light i need to fix on and heres my new bumper from rally design
RossMK2 Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 fibreglass are a pain there cheaper but looking back i wish i had spent the extra money on metal one and i am chaniging mine for some metal ones asap mine did come with fibreglass moulding mounts for indicators but mine aren't tall enough couldn't you use a fibreglass kit to make them?
willmk2 Posted July 18, 2010 Author Report Posted July 18, 2010 Yeah think I'm going to struggle though mate, I'm racking my brain to think of an easy way of fixing them. What do your fibreglass brackets look like?
RossMK2 Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 if you mean the brackets they just fibreglass mate moulded to the shape of the original brackets
willmk2 Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 Ah right hmm I'll try and figure something out today Would have made life so much easier if they had them haha
willmk2 Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 SORTED :] Just made the bracket. Took some doing but glad it's done. Your right though. Would have been a whole lot easier to spend abit more money and buy the metal ones already with a bracket.
RossMK2 Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 Another thing to warn you anout it that you will need a new earth for indicators as the orginal one would be through bumper I drilled a hole in bumper iron and bolted spade on there
willmk2 Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 Ah right I'll get on that cheers. Is it vital that I don't run until the earths put onto the irons? What are the consequences of leaving it on the screw mate
willmk2 Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 Mine are working does that mean my earth is okay?
RossMK2 Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 with working with fibreglass bumpers fitted yes dont know how though with fibreglass
willmk2 Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 Is your front quarters held on by one bolt or two?
