Are you gettting a spark?

Test a plug by taking it out and resting on a head bolt whilst connected to its lead. Try to start the engine and see if the plug is sparking. (you will need a assistant to tell you)

Cheers guys , i have just pulled out one of the plugs and i am not getting a spark , so it must be points , condensor or coil , if the timing was a mile out i presume i would still get a spark but not at the right time for ignition

Take the coil "king" lead out from the centre of the dizzy cap and hold it near a earthing point (insulated pliers or similar) crank the engine and see if you have a spark.

If you do then you have a problem with rotor arm or dizzy cap, if you don't the try points and condensor, also check you have voltage at coil

Well it's one way to know for SURE if it's working - and it's character building - and she will be pleased to be involved I'm quite sure!

Although you may know her better than me having not met her....
