Hello!

I am looking into fitting a ST170 engine to my mk1 escort, probably on throttle bodies. I presume plenty of people have done simelar conversions, and of course zetec conversions. But what do I need to do to run injection? Presumably I need to mod the tank? I have been looking at the alloy tanks that go in the back of the boot, can you buy these ready for injection? What else would I need to be doing?

Can you tell this is my first OSF project?

Run the standard RS tank (the one with a return in the sender) and use a Sierra Cosworth fuel pump and filter in its cradle. You need to mod the fuel tank outlet to a bigger pipe size (drill it out and retap) but otherwise you just bolt the cradle under the boot floor and run your wires and pipes to it :) . You won't get fuel surge problems unless you run the tank very very low, I used this with my zetec setup and never had a problem even when hooning it round brunters

As long as the new pump meets the same criteria as the one for the original injection system. And as mentioned before, you shouldn't need the swirl pot. The escort tank is taller than it is wide with the outlet at the bottom, as above just don't let the level get too low.

That's what I gather anyway, but I'm sure someone more technical will say for sure
