Hi Peranapete,

Well, sad to see another Perana leaving the country  , but in the same breath it is very good to know that it has found a very caring and loving home!! Those are becomming very scarce now as you are lucky if you can find one for sale!!

If I may ask, how much did you pay for the car in SA Rand?

Also, what is the number on the Basil Green Plate. The reason I am asking is that there is all sorts of roumers and stuff about the number of Perana's manufactured by Basil, and I was wondering if it might shed some light on it. Maybe you could e-mail me a pic of the plate if you have one handy?

Also, check out www.capri-perana.co.za. It is a local website that has a lot of valuable info.

Stunning Car  ... You should take good care of her!!

I'd love a Perana, I think it would suit 7x13 Supalites with graphite grey centres, not on low profile rubber though. Nice one mate, can''t wait to see that at some shows 8)

What do you reckon on the 5 spoke Classic Revolution wheels with the black painted centers ? :D

I've an Idea!

My brother's got some 16"ers on his Cobra Replica and they look the dog's dangles! Shame they don't do 13"s, as I'd love some on the Anglia instead of Supalites, Halibrands just have to be the sexiest wheel ever.

I'd love a Peranah, I's settle for a pre-facelift 3ltr though if had the choice. The XR6 was a great car in Mk5 trim too, I don't understand why they left the XR8 till the Sierra was launched - imagine buying a factory XR8 Cortina from the showroom, that would have been so cool!!!

Ha No chance !!!

3 or 4 of his cars he bought brandnew from a local dealer, think he's got about nine "hidden away in secret locations"

That 3litre S hasnt moved for about 15-20 years :(

Dunno much about the peranna he's got, im guessing thats probably the same as the 3.0S , Hidden away never to see daylight till he pops his clogs

Hello, some people make you laugh, cant see the point in keeping these motors locked up in some balloon somewhere, maybe some people get off

on just having them behind four walls, not me, these motors are for driving and enjoying !!!! All to there own.!!!!!

My Mk1 3 litre Capri looked really good on 7.5J minilites, but IMHO it's hard to beat the look of the 7.5J X pack Escort/Capri RS 4 spokes.

Nice Capri I've always fancied a Perana myself, was it hard to locate and export back to the UK?

Hello, it took me about a year to find an original one, then once found the owner was made bancrupt, then I was chasing his Bailiff, then he got it back, then eventually 18 months later I got it shipped. A right Drama !!!

Shipping is around £1800. Then you have got customs, most shipping companys will guide you through the legal side of things.

Thanks Peter

Yeah keeping them locked away seems pointless.

The engines probably seized solid on the 3.0s  Still as you say to each their own and they are an investment if things ever got bad so its not all pointless I suppose. If it were me though i'd make sure I drove them now and again. I have a mate who has a mint RS2000 in bits in his garage, its all there and all as good as new if not better than new, and its all in bits around his garage. He also has an original Sierra cosworth locked away in a barn. And what does he drive every day???? A cruddy Mondea! Wheres the sense?
