MEXY867M Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 to use for running from the boot been told diesel bats are alot stronger advise please cheers
GT_lenny Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 your regular battery will be fine - its the cable you need to beef up- i'm using some heavy duty welder earth cable , not cheap but well up to the job- my battery is a 1.0 corsa one and has never even hinted at not coping
popeye Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 i had my battery in the boot running the v8, but allways turning over slow..two much drain on the cable...battery now sit's behind the drivers seat and changed the cable to a very fine wire ( not sure what type ) around 13mm thick...start's on the button first time now.....ended up cutting out around 8' of cable......
Tom Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 blimey your car must be really long if its 8' from your seat to your boot!
Beakster Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Here's a pic of the cable I used when I moved my battery to the boot. I got it from Thames Valley Electro Diesel. It's probably overkill, but didn't want cable over heating and melting under the carpet.
Yeomans22 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 my dad sold his 2.2 omega a few weeks ago, my dad just had to buy a new battery for it at £90 so i put it in my capri and its made a massive difference
andyc Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 thanks peeps some good advice I used 20mm cable as they say that any thing thinner you lose voltage to the starter all so make sure the engine is earthed well
