Wessie Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 my rs2000 track rod ends have a different thread to my rack i was told i needed these to fit my rack to my capri struts
105Speed Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 You haven't fallen for the old left hand right hand thread thing have you ?
bomber1 Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 are the threads sloppy or not going on at all
Wessie Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 threads are totally different ! the track rod end threads are coarse whereas the rack threads are finer
Wessie Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 i dunno ! but i got a capri rack and the threads on the racks are the same but the track rod ends dont fit
Mark2Mark Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 but the mk1 and mk2 racks have different threads
Wessie Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 well its the rack with the same threads as a capri rack ! thats all i know
Mark2Mark Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Well i put 2.8i struts on my mk2 and had to buy green RS2k track rod ends they went on fine, but my mate has a mk1 with the same set up but his standard TRE's fitted ok and the threads on his rack are totally different to mine, so i think you may have a mk1 rack and mk2 TRE's?
Wessie Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 probably, will the mk1 ends fit the struts ok then
Mark2Mark Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Yeah as far as i know my mates just bolted straight up, then when we came to fit mine the standard ends i had just bought had to go in the bin and be replaced with the rs ones
bomber1 Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 ill buy the rs ends off u at the end of the month if ya want and keep em as spares for mine
deluxe Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 fleebay them, people converting mk2 escorts to billies need them Capris have imperial rod ends like the mk1 escort. Same as the mk3 and 4 escort and early fiesta so they should be cheap and easily availble
Mark2Mark Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 ill buy the rs ends off u at the end of the month if ya want and keep em as spares for mine Have you got a mk2 rack on yours mate?

Tom Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 mate if you're planning on driving looking through the side windows i reccomend you get a quick rack (rally design are doing them cheap) its so much easier to correct a slide with a Q/R i fitted a standard one for a while and the car was all over the place
