zetecrs Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 On my 73 Mk1 Escort RS replica, im experiencing a clonking on steering mainly reversing on lock. Ive jacked car up and noticed the nearside front strut top plate turns slightly against stopper on spring. Ive tried tightening top shocker mount to no avail. Its def the nearside thats doing it. Struts are 2.8 capri legs with lowered springs. Is that the issue ot could top n/s mount bearing be worn. It doesnt seem to float around when observed under bonnet, Any ideas before I take it apart. Top mounts are stock not roller bearing.
escort new boy Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 has the spring popped out of the cup or somthin stupid cuz if u have lowerd spring and u go over a hump back bridge to fast they can pop out ?? just a thought
zetecrs Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 I dont think so, but will be checking that, spring appears located in strut ok.
Messenjah Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 im interested in the answer to this as my capri does it ... reversing on lock theres a clonk and a very strange feel from the steering wheel ....
