alec hafele Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Anyone give me a clue please. I am refurbing the dash in my MKIII 2.8i. I am fitting an uncracked dash top doing a general clean up. I noticed that the dash lights even at full bright where pretty dim. While the dash is apart I've checked all the bulbs and they are OK. The dimmer swicth appears be OK. Any ideas how I can brighten things up a little?
Admin Vista Posted November 11, 2010 Admin Report Posted November 11, 2010 fit new bulbs and see what you think before you try anything fancy. The bulbs you have are probably original so at least 23 years old and the light they give off fades with age.
JP. Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Use some of this famous alu tape. and stick it to the sides of the dash cluster and also stick it to to the back side of that 6 hole dash plate that sits between the cluster and the glass. Now you have reflectors that reflex the light onto the gauges. Oooh and get rid of those blue caps. Have done it on two Capri's allready with good results.
Yeomans22 Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 take out the blue covers that go round the bulb, then either fit LED or like me just some coloured standard bulbs http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-x-GREEN-SIDE-LI ... 483b97b69d
alec hafele Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 Many thanks for the tips!
