rs new boy Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 my mate at work has a d reg 2.8 capri sitting in his garage for the last 7 years he tell me that it ran on leaded petrol and it dosent have unleaded heads is this so how can you tell if it will run on unleaded or if it has unleaded heads or are 2.8 capris all unleaded can someone tell me

sparkycapri Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 it will run on unleaded ok for a while but one day it will start missing and you will find that you have knackerd the heads!! especially if you drive it hard the only 28 engines that have factory unleaded heads are the ones to be found in 28 grannys on E plates just before they changed to 29s i am afraid to say. you can have the heads converted though but not many places will do it because the head castings are very thin around the valve seats pm me if you need to know more (i can get them converted)

orionmojo Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 yeah. i ran my 'tina at shakespear raceway on unleaded, it didn't run well for a while i now use lead replacement and it runs beautiful, i dont usually drive it hard, but the guy told me he had it converted. i'm not taking any more risks
