Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 12, 2011 Admin Report Posted January 12, 2011 Chaucer sounds very cheap Mine is up in May ... I shall try my current insurer (Premium choice) and Adrian Flux and Chaucer I think Like Ratman I was with HIC for a number of years but for the past 2 years Premium choice have come up trumps - unbelievable how much the companies vary
lotusless Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 £88 with Chaucer on my standard Mk1 Mexico.....£9000 agreed value i think chaucer will be getting a few calls
BudgieV8 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Mmmm, I've been with Footman James for the past few years. Did the same as Ratman 2 years ago (challenged the increase) & they backed off quickly when I threatened to go elsewhere. HOWEVER, they have invented another sneaky rip-off which you should look out for: Changes to policy have been charged for at £15 'admin fee' for ages - I disagree with this but you expect to pay it if you change anything on the car - but changing address as you are legally required to do....???? I moved house 7 weeks after renewing so told them of the move. They promptly said 'yes, thats all done, that will be £25 please'. WTF? If I changed the car or I gained more points or the new address was riskier fair enough, but its the same postcode risk etc! SWMBO's Fiesta is with Swinton who didnt charge anything, & my Audi TDi daily is with eCar.com who again didnt charge!
mk1mexico Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 I'm with Chaucer have been for 6 months bonus is I can drive any other car on my policy!!! Adrian Flux acted as brokers and the guy on the phone couldn't quite believe it. £210 fully comp agreed value 1979 RS2000. They won't apply no claims though for some reason but they freeze them for you.
EscortHeadCase Posted January 26, 2011 Author Report Posted January 26, 2011 £112 For 12months laid up with the option to upgrade to an on the road policy at any time. Ah well i can get my spare 205 bottom end 2.1ed and everything sorted for next year. Maybe the odd track day in the middle to keep the cobwebs out
Ken B Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Just had the renewal on my modified van. Same as last year same underwriters as well. £208 with unlimted mileage. Which bring me to a rather annoying point. As i live in the arse end of nowhere and only tend to to long distance shows occasionally and tours, 5,000 miles is absoulutely nothing. You can soon rack that up in no time. I did well over this last year but I only did a few shows and a tour. But I rang around to change companies and none could offer me anything with out a 5000 mile limit.
