bashbymk2 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 I have a bare shell coming at the end of the month and need to move it around. I have ordered some heavy duty castors just wondering how anyone has dealt with this if they have any ideas measurements etc Cheers
bomber1 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 i have my other halfs escort up on two trollys. there flat plastic tops measuring 3ft x 2ft one sits under the front xmember the other under the rear axle.
baz105e Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 a bare shell doesnt weigh much at all (2 people can lift it~) so a simple square frame 4 ft by 4 ft with a caster on each corner maybee with some pipe insulation or similar attached to the top to protect the underside of the car should do the job

bashbymk2 Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 Yer cheers I think I'm Gunna build something Similar to the link on TSport i have cut all the plates tonight and ordered The steel so shouldn't be long until she's Rolling
4-Door Pete Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 On my Cortina shell I bolted a long piece of sturdy box section the same width as the front wheels to the cross-member (an old one) then bolted some casters to the box-section. That way I can still get the car on the trailer for transporting to the spray shop.
baxterbaxter Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 i just used 2 skate boards under the rear chassis rails of my capri, then lift the front and wheel it about.. didnt get the street cred i was hoping for however.
kidcos Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 just made mine out of some 50mm box section and some big caster wheels off of one of those really big wheelie bins. its perfect and the bigger wheels make it easy to move over bumpy ground or on to a trailer like i have to. i got my wheels of a guy who works on the bins who said thay have loads of old broken bins in the yard so got him a few beers and he got me 4 brakes
