Andrade Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 One of the inserts on my Capri got busted yesterday it's now squeaking like a mouse with every bump. Can't seem to find a standard part locally to replace it with. I have two used inserts that came off a mk2 escort. The height of the strut's body seems the same, the thread at the top seems the same, however the diameter of the shaft is noticeably thinner. Can I use these anyway? Where can I buy a set of new struts from? Are the mk3 ones the same? Thanks guys
JP. Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 mk2 & 3 is the same. To be honest mk3 only exist in England.. Officialy Ford never called it the mk3 which makes it a facelifted mk2. Trie and find a mk3 in Germany....... a what??? will they say. Rally Design has some Gaz ones which are adjustable Partnumber 4103 Burton does them also but cost 2 pounds more each.. http://www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-fitment-type/parts-by-car-model-ford/ford-capri/gzgai4103.html
Andrade Posted February 12, 2011 Author Report Posted February 12, 2011 cheers for that however any ideas where to get any standard ones? would these be it? they look a bit costly for a standard shock.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Capri-Shock- ... 834wt_1162
JP. Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Should fit according to the specs. Good price too.
