Iv got a mk1 fiesta sandpiper, And i just want to learn more about the car and the engine! Id love to be able to work on it by myself but I dont know what Im doing and nobody I know can teach me!

Does anyone know somewhere with videos or stuff so I can learn about it?

I need to put a new carb on as the one i have is deadddd, So replacing that could be a start!

Well hello there Mr. Joe

Id say buy yourself a Haynes manual first  they tell you near enough everything, especially if your just planning on getting it running. All I did when I started was take pictures of everything your doing while your doing it then if you remove something and cant remember where it goes then you can refer back to the pics :D Looks like a nice little fista you've got there iv always wanted a mk1, be nice to see some more pics

Haynes manual is the absolute first buy then tackle it yourself. I learned from doing that and dont be frightened to walk away and think about it later if your stuck. Pictures is a top idea as said above coz it keeps things right. Take pics of similar cars at shows, engines etc and keep them to refer to. Alaways work on the ethos of, 'it cant be that hard' or 'i'm not paying that'. Good luck you'll enjoy it when it goes well and swear repeatedly when it doesn't.

from what i can find your car was a 1.1 as standard and the parts for the running gear are still easy to get and as others say get a haynes bible its a good place to start

don't get the new haynes book of lies, try to find an older one as that has a lot more detail in it, instead of telling you to just buy a new part. i also have an autodata one from the early 80's for the MK1 which has alot of info on getting the car to run properly. carb is easy to change if you know how, just remember you will need a new gasket.

Similar to mine. I think that if a garage apprentice can do it, then I bet I can.

Apologies to good mechanics, but I've met enough in the past that would pass at the missing link, and it has cost me good money for stuff that I can now do myself which is is relatively easy with a bit on confidence.
