to me it was one of the better issues recently but I do feel like the mag is lacking somethin, it feels more corporate, whereas RF feels like it is more for the people.

Corporate? In what way? And what wouldyou say it was lacking?

I'm not really sure what's lacking, can't put my finger on it, the mag has a softer design than RF and I maybe that reflects on some of the cars, i'd obviously like to see more mk1's, but not concours trailer queens.

Please take this as constructive criticism but you can tell that RF is written by the people for the people and when i'm reading it I feel like i'm back in the 80's wishing I could afford the loud & lowered RS2k or Mex with the big cibies.... Nostalgia, the reason I do now own a loud, low mex with big cibies

I do take it as constructive mate, it's all good. By the people, for the people eh. Right. So you'd say it was more an attitude thing than content?

I think obvously RF have done that on purpose and hats off to them, it works for its audience. Classic Ford has a different attitude. It's produced by the people for a different type of people if you see what I mean. We aim to be more er, inclusive on a larger scale I suppose would be the best term for it and try to appeal and entertain to a very wide audience: age, interests, tastes, attitude etc. This is what I think you're talking about.

Where as RF appeals directly to you as it is aimed directly at the Ford fans who are a part of OSF and a similar target audience (as far as I read it) we aim to entertain and interest you guys plus lots of other types of groups spread across the classic Ford scene.

I see what you picked up on there but I don't think thats it, I am also a member on another forum, where you are promoted quite heavily, and there members and cars are the same as on here but that isn't reflected in the mag... I think a clue is in the title - 'Classic' ford as compared to 'Retro' Ford. I dunno, maybe its a just place I am in at the moment :?. Don't get me wrong, credit where credits due, you have some great stuff in the mag.

I guess to some it up, when my cars finished I never really imagined asking for a feature in 'Classic Ford', while planning the car its always been a cover shot with 'Retro'.

That's fine mate, we all have our preferences and different tastes - the world would be a boring place without it!

I'm not surprised at the feature comment and I think that has a lot to do with the fact that OSF has such a huge presence in RF. You want to be part of that as you know lots of other guys on here who have been in the mag at some point (correct me if I'm wrong), and that's really understandable.

Do you think then that because OSF is so big in RF that as a member you then feel it's 'your' magazine because of it. And that then makes you think that there is something missing from Classic Ford?

I thought it was another great issue, only been reading for about 9 months or so, and had a very good variety of cars and features. On the whole it was another top issue........however the 2 page spread on the Classic Motor Show seemed a complete waste of 2 pages. Too few words, pics too small to make out any real discernable detail and 2 of the pics contained cars actually featured elsewhere. The picture of the Tickford Capri is laughable. As said 2 pages wasted which could have contained something far more entertaining.

I really enjoyed the RS200's having a bit of a soft spot for them. I remember watching these nutters on the TV when I was younger :lol: What about a feature on RS 500's. Not proper old skool yet but they're becoming rare beasts as well and probably just as desrving of a feature considering where a lot of cossie engines end up

Hopefully this year i'll be embarking on a restoration and what i'd really like to see is step by step how too's on welding, painting etc just to get an idea, although I can already weld but i'm sure it'd be useful for some and maybe tool tests i.e. compessors, welders etc.

Others may say that certain other mags cover this sort of stuff but I can only afford 2 mags per month which are CF and RF so I cant buy other mags. The 2 pages that contained the Classic Motor Show crap could have compared 3 or 4 entry level welders :)

I'd love to see some more Standard/modified Mk 2 and 3 3.0s Capris.

I like the ads, window shopping is good fun when you're skint LOL.

But its a good mag, good format and an enjoyable read overall :D

that could be it I suppose. Something I would like to see in either mag is more Northern coverage, I was amazed to find 2 more escorts in my avenue! a 1600 sport with zetec conversion (real nice motor) and an RS2000 track car, I have seen a tawny brown mk1 and I know of an olympic blue mk1 arriving soon! RF certainly seems to be concentrated down sarf (obviously coz of OSF), maybe you could come up here and take a look? Oh and I love the Rally News.... so not all bad

Was just us pissing around with Gareth's Cortina and wanted to fit the spoiler - it does look really good in the flesh. It's gonna have a proper overhaul of the body work once his plans for global MkV domination start properly- gotta buyt the engine first and then everything will be done around that.
