TCDown Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Hi all, It is well and truly time for me to kick my ass in gear and get my trike back on the road. I have a custom trike powered by a MK1 Escort 1.6 crossflow and auto transmission. It was a 1.3 crossflow but my son bought me a new engine a while back. I had taken the engine and box out of the frame to do some work and my back had gone on me again so it has sat in the garage for mmphmmmph years. My problem is that I have lost the bolts that join the engine and transmission together. Any one got any idea where i could buy a set from or even what sizes I would need? Couple of pics to show you my trike before it lost its heart Cheers for looking in TC
Admin Vista Posted April 28, 2011 Admin Report Posted April 28, 2011 Welcome to OSF There are a few site sponsors on here that break fords and can probably help you out with the bolts you need. Check the technical section of the site for GS Escorts and Escort tec Re your Trike, they always look well hazardous to me when I see them on the road, the people on the back seat don't need seat belts or helmets do they?
vartsa Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Greetings my man! We're in the same boat. I'm trying to build one for the missus, her mini 1000 auto trike is too slow so we figured a 1300 Xflow might do the trick.Trouble is we baught seperate parts rather than get a complete runner & scrap it, no spacer between the crank shaft/starter ring gear, the vacum pipe on the R/H side of the box is meant to fit somewhere on the inlet manifold or carb but we don't have a spare connection up there, so lordy knows where, the starter motor wont fit 'cos it hits the bellhousing, & if that i'nt bad enough I've just dropped my pickled egg. At least yours has got paint on! If you pass Somerset we can make a fine cup of tea & might even find a biscuit or two. Good luck, Mike.
TCDown Posted May 26, 2011 Author Report Posted May 26, 2011 Thanks everyone for the kind welcome. @vartsa You just never know if I might end up in Somerset on my travels, a cuppa is always good TC
vartsa Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Greetings from somerset. Yes I know it's a bit late, but try mc_motorsport on that Ebay wosname thingy. X/flow Bellhousing bolts £6.99 + £3.oo P+P, or £21.99 full set of nice shiney engine bolts. We're still havin' a pig of a job to get our starter motor to mesh with the ring gear. The theory now is we have the wrong ringear. Just baught a s/h starter motor that is the same as we were using, so that rules that out & a spacer for the end of the crank, better, but still not right. All I can think of is the ofset on the ring gear plate is wrong. We have a part no 74DT-6K375-CB on it but can't get any joy in checking it out. Reckon it wont be done this year after all ! Keep smiling, Mike.
