seanyh Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Taking the capri to santa pod this weekend for classic ford show.... never been up a drag strip before...any hints and tips for a newbie its got a 24v BOA cosworth in there and a 4 speed type 5 box...LSD of course any ideas on tyre pressures, revs, technique ect... running normal road tyres... got a 0-60 of 6.11 seconds at silverstone at ford fair a few years back...but that was before mods and proper rolling road setup... hope to hit about 5.5 seconds, but need some advise... cheers..
Toby Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Just imagine you are leaving the petrol station as fast as you can - without the sideways bit! Start with tyre pressures around 20 psi have several runs, see how consistant you are. Then start dropping them 2 psi and have several more goes. You ideally need some wheel spin but not too much. The track will suprise you with how grippy it is. It is just practice to balance the rev's so as not to bog down or give away time sitting spinning.... The clock doesn't start till you move so if you're not fussed about crossing the line first you can take a bit of time to notice your rev's at launch and then adjust for the next go. Most of all have fun - oh and if you do manage a 5.5 sec 1/4 mile we'll all buy you a beer!
seanyh Posted May 31, 2011 Author Report Posted May 31, 2011 Nahh...meant 0-60 of 5.5 seconds..not 5.5 1/4 mile run!...now that would be good in a capri... how much is it on the saturday nights, 5 till 8..? and how much is it on the sunday show day for a run?
evil knievel Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Looking forward to see you run I'll probably be the tallest ugliest one there in a Capri T shirt if you want to say hi
