Long story short but a guy here at work (age 52) is currently off work because his wife has had a bleed on her brain and is in hospital for the forseeable future. She is 48  She was a very successful business doris who travels around the country. She was late home from work one day back in April and so he called her mobile and it turns out that she had been sitting in her car for a couple of hours in a public car park "fitting" and a member of the public spotted her and called an ambulance.

She was moved to a specialist neurological unit initially and, thankfully, has been transferred now to a local hospital which has enabled him to come back to work part-time - he needs the money as she was the main bread winner

She is now starting a slow recovery but she can't move her legs at all and is incontinent and unable to feed herself although she does recognise people and can speak a little and her arms are now starting to work.

She had no warning of this, no headaches, no illness, she doesn't smoke or drink and leads a healthy lifestyle and it just makes you think how important families are and the whole family unit - what would she have done without him being there everyday and what would he do without her! Luckily for them their daughters are in their early twenties so he doesn't have the added worry of making arrangements for childcare while she is in hospital.

Imagine if she had been a single parent with small children - who would have been there for them - it doesn't bear thinking about

Anyway, thank God for families - cherish your loved ones and don't ever take them for granted :ykt:

Well said Jo

Families are everything. My mum was Spanish and it was bred into me and my brother.

I really hope your friends situation improves quickly :ykt:

Yes it certainly brings it home. A couple of months ago my friends brother collapsed while out jogging. He was fit too. he'd had bleeding on the brain. Luckily, there were a series of events that saved his life. He was found by a doctor and was running near the hospital at the time. Because of that he was in hospital and being operated on in minutes. My mate went to see him and he was in a very bad way. The doctor gave him something like a 5% chance of survival, let alone recovery. He was thinking he was going to have to plan his funeral. The next day when he went round, he was sat up in bed and talking. The doctor said he had never seen a quicker recovery.

Life is Fickle there is no two ways about that….

eighteen moths ago, My Mum who was 46 was ill, she went to the docs, said she had a chest infection, gave her some anti biotics and sent her on her way. A week passed of she was taking the meds but getting no better, slightly worse in fact. So my Dad took her to hospital…they said the same thing, although now she had a pain in her back. They put this down to pulling a muscle whilst coughing, gave her some more anti biotics and some pain killers for her back…

A few days passed and she was getting no better so Dad took her back to Hospital where they done some tests, hesitantly after Dad was adamant that is was something more then a chest infection…He was right.

They diagnosed she has Small Cell Carcinoma of the lung, lung cancer and gave her 2-5 days to live.

She was transferred to the Royal Marsden in Sutton who put her into Palliative care (which is just making you as comfortable as possible until the end) she was put into a medicinal induced coma and she died 11 Days later. Worst day of my life.

I had a Tattoo in her memory on my arm, it reads “AGO PRO VITA” Latin for “Live for Life”, you never know what’s gonna happen and cant plan shit so just live how you want when you want the only limitations are your imagination.

So sorry to read your story :sad::sad:

How awful for you and your dad to endure that pain...does make you think though that life can be taken so quickly without much warning.

My Girlfriends brother had a bleed on the brain aged 43 last year.

He was really healthy, didnt drink or smoke too.

Turned out it was high blood pressure.

Moral of the story.... get your blood pressure checked. Its something thats often overlooked.

it was the worst couple of weeks ever...especially as i had to put down my dog during the 11 days.

If it wasnt for my dad, my Fiance and other members of the family i think i would of jumped into the bottom of a bottle and stayed there.

This is when family is the only thing that matters in life. Lucky that you had support when you needed it most.
