Cosworth V6 rev counter

Hi folks, just a quick (ish) one, how can i run a stand alone tacho from a cosworth v6? ive had an autometere monster tacho in my car for ages now, when it was a 2.9 cologne, i just ran the signal wire off the coil, however, with the cosworth, they have the edis system so no coil i can run the signal wire too. i also tried connecting it to what was the rev counter output on the old ecu, on the new ecu, but again, no luck. Really want to get it working by thursday, as for some reason, i am going to ultimate chav fest at santa pod this weekend thanks guys.
