SebringRS Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 As i was about to paint under the bonnet very soon on the 1100, i decided to take all the trim etc. off for now as i didnt wanna paint over it, got the VIN tag off and decided its abit old and faded so could do with a new one. Now ive found loads all the same design, but all saying "Made in England", whereas the one i've took off, says "Assembled in Ireland" Any ideas where i can get a blank one of them from If not, ill just have to go for the England one instead
Admin Vista Posted October 24, 2011 Admin Report Posted October 24, 2011 Unless it's really bad, clean it up a bit and stick with the one you've got. it adds a bit of age and authenticity to the car. A bit like a sepia photograph.
SebringRS Posted October 25, 2011 Author Report Posted October 25, 2011 I spose It was also more the way the previous owner has stamped it though, looks like he's used a small chisel
In The Pit Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Im pretty sure that cars assembled in Ireland are very rare so id keep that VIN plate on the car. If you join this forum http://z8.invisionfree.com/EveryFord_Ireland and ask on there im sure someone will tell how rare an Irish MKI is.
SebringRS Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 Just joined and posted, ta Hopefully someone on there might be able to get a "Assembled in Ireland" vin plate, then i can keep the Ireland bit, but have it stamped properly
