Greetings from the owner of a new Capri :-)

Hi everyone

 

I have just acquired a Mk3 2.8 in black for the princely sum of £900 as a rolling project. It has the 2.8 carb from a Sierra 4x4 and it drives really well.

 

From what I can tell it has the following issues:

New driver's side front wing needed as well as some welding to driver's side front floor,

Rusted rear arch needs cutting out and replacing,

The gear box is extremely whiney,

Needs a stereo fitting,

Needs a parcel shelf,

General tidy up and it could use a new coat of paint.

 

I'm looking at getting some new wheels, either Wellers or Slot Mags so if anyone has any for sale then please let me know. I'm hoping to find a cheap Mountney steering wheel and a Mk2 grill as well.

 

I want to continue removing the trim and smoothing out the car which the previous owner has started to do. I think it has a lot of potential. Structurally it seems OK but I need to give it a proper going over to confirm that. I only pickled it up last night.

Speaking of which what's the best carburettor for my engine - the 2.8 Cologne from an XR4x4?

As far as I know the XR's are all injected, so I would guess that your carb is from a Granada. But I may be wrong of course
