payne'e Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 got told about this a while ago and decided to go have a look yesterday. managed to find out who the owner was and turns out it belongs to a bloke i worked with on site a few times, about 6 years ago. got chatting to him and it's been there about 18 years and i could have it if i wanted so thought great and went to have a good look at it and this is how it looks the drivers door and rear quater panel have literally just fell off but i couldn't get to take pics as there is a ditch with a stream/brook next to it and i didn't fancy falling in he had removed most parts engine, interior etc before putting it there. i think i'll leave it there as it would prob just fall apart if i was to try and move it and it would be near on impossible to get it out as it's about a quater a mile away from the nearest road p.s on the way back out i slipped in (knee deep) what i think was a badger hole or something that scared me!!
SebringRS Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 You can have that done by xmas Could be worth getting out, stripping of any decent panels, if any, then selling the remaining shell on, maybe to the rally boys to fix up
Darran Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Thats the sort of thing we would dig out!!! Sure we could save something..... Give us a shout if you want to pass on the details. thanks Darran
mk2 clint Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 if somebody offered me that for nothing i would deffo have a go at getting it out
alancdavis Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Wont be supprised if the vin plates are on another car by now
Fiesta Steve Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Is that front spoiler genuine Ford Diff and such like are probably all serviceable
SebringRS Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Not just me that wouldnt throw anything rotten away then
payne'e Posted November 20, 2011 Author Report Posted November 20, 2011 the wortst thing about this is where it is. as to the drivers side there is a 5ft or so ditch with prob 2-3ft of water in it.along with the door and rear panel and a fence to the passenger side, although that souldn't be a prob to take down. then the task of moving it around all the trees and bushes. and even then trying to get it out of the enclosed field it's in i'll most prob go back with a shovel and a saw and have a better look and see if i can remove anything
lotusless Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 bloody hell whats wrong with you stick an engine + box back in with some mud + snow tyres + drive the fooker out
Nick Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 How did he even get it in there in the first place
payne'e Posted November 21, 2011 Author Report Posted November 21, 2011 bloody hell whats wrong with you stick an engine + box back in with some mud + snow tyres + drive the fooker out now that made me laugh
mk2 clint Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 i think he was serious mine was a heap just stuck with it dont look half bad now go on get her out
bigglesmk2 Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 I could do with them rear quaters however bad they are ,and if ones allready off then it saves me half the job
oxb1l Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 mine had lay for 18 yrs aswell guess i was lucky it was actually on the farm and not the field and the fella had removed the engine and interior aswell never mind get some good polish and a bit elbow grease Bill
mk2harrier Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 i would have a go at that. im not bad with a welder and most panels are sourceable, in time it would be on the road again. plus its free, pull it out and give it a go. and it would piss my misses off bigtime!!
payne'e Posted November 27, 2011 Author Report Posted November 27, 2011 went back today with some tools to have a proper look and was greeted by rot, more rot and yes more rot if only i knew about this sooner i did manage to save a few bits which will come in handy here's a few pics dragged the remains of the drivers door and rear panel out of the ditch

Nick Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 ERRR yeah thats abit F****D :L get the logbook off it tho and as many parts as possibloe, suspension, glass etc
mk2 clint Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 didn't realise it was that rotten shame
72mk1escort Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 i would take those engine mounts off as they are the better xflow one and also grab that steering wheel off to mate
In The Pit Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 I wouldnt bother with the log book/ID as if you sell it, it will probably end up on one of the many stolen Escorts we keep reading about or be used to turn an L into a Sport so someone can rip someone else off for loads of money. Best thing to do with any scrap MKI MKII Escorts like this is to cut the VIN plates up in tiny pieces and send the logbook back to the DVLA as scrapped. Lets not help the thieves and conmen get us.
payne'e Posted November 28, 2011 Author Report Posted November 28, 2011 here's what i did manage to salvage i did try and get the mounts but only had one 17mm socket and they just spun around. i'm going back the weekend to get a few more bits like the logbook,(if he can find it) glass, handles and whatever else comes off as i have a mk2 project which i will be starting after christmas anyone need anything? and i'll try and get it
