qad Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Hi all Just needed some advice, please. My mate would like to buy a UK number plate car, which is in Belfast at the moment. The car has been originally been imported from Japan to the UK The car has been registered in Belfast for approx 1-3 years. He would like to know if there is any way he can check if there is any outstanding tax duty on it. Also if there are any customs to pay when importing it back to the UK. The car has m.o.t, tax and V5
Admin Vista Posted December 3, 2011 Admin Report Posted December 3, 2011 If it's registered in Northern Ireland, there won't be any duty to pay as it's already in the UK. Likewise if it's already on a UK numberplate and was here before it went over to Belfast, it's fairly safe to assume that any duty due for it's import to the UK from Japan has already been paid.
