turnover Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 they would really need to be paralel to the chassis mate
fatboycharlie Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 they would really need to be paralel to the chassis mate like the top pic ? doesent look paralel from the pic or would you make them longer ? like mount them near the spring bolt area?
turnover Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 arhh i see,, just how youve drawn 2nd pic ,yes they need to be longer but probably best to ask someone the length of standard ones as you dont want them too long but some do have a curve shap bar that actually bolts to that hole in the chassis
fatboycharlie Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 the hole is where the arb mounts think your thinking of an escort so i will hafto make my own kit as its going on a capri axle is ford 8.8 just trying to work out wot will b best
turnover Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 yes escort mate, best way would be 4 link it then you wont have any worries, obviously if your not running alot of power than trampbars will be fine ,but i suspect with an 8.8 you have something powerfull under the hood

fatboycharlie Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 i think i will keep the leaf springs for now and just have sum fun or i will never get it on the road lol
fatboycharlie Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 leaf springs will be fine mate cheers would you use any other support or would you just leave it as it is
turnover Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 should be fine but if you want to put a panhard rod in then you can will help, and while you have the welder out you might aswell ,then its fit and forget ,there not expensive and you could fit the link kit from an escort

livewire7116 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 ideally you need to put the axle under load before putting brackets on the axle, clamp axle to the springs then move the axle stands under the tubes to help
fatboycharlie Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Posted December 4, 2011 ideally you need to put the axle under load before putting brackets on the axle, clamp axle to the springs then move the axle stands under the tubes to help thats the plan just like a kid at christmas had to see wot il looked like
jamie956 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 Used the same kit on my dads cortina estate tied into the rails, axle brackets on top also the diff needs to point down a couple of deg's. To put that power down your going to need to 5 link it and do some axle mod's too.
