Well I reckon I've already had and read more than £12 worth of helpful stuff on here and never been laughed at so I'm going purple. Although I bought my car as it is I intend to keep it for a long time and I'm going to need this place.

I tried renewing it through the shop but when I click on 'add to cart' nothing happens. Temporary bug?

I had that trouble it wanted me to sign in, but I was. I kept trying and this login "pop up" appeared. I signed in there and bingo! Do you have pop up blocker on it might be that?

"joomla_int Session Create: You do not have access to this page! Your usergroup is Public Frontend. As a minimum, you should be a member of USERS."

Anyone got any ideas? :banghead:

A few facts for you people out there

That of the top two hundred posters on this site, discounting admin and the three sponsors on those first 10 pages, only 24 people are site contributors?

Out of 10602 current members (this number would be much higher but earlier this year we deleted several thousand members who'd joined before about 2008 but never signed in) only 149 are contributors

The sites bandwidth costs us £160 per month?

Those of you that use the site regularly but don't contribute, you remain under no obligation to do so but I'd be interested to hear (by pm if you want, all will remain private) what changes we could make to the site or things we could offer that might persuade you to help out with the operating costs.

How spooky is that - 149 contributors x £12 =£1788

£1788 divided by £160 bandwidth montly cost = 12 months

That means the site is paid for to the penny 8)

And if the remainng 176 of the top 200 posters became contributors the charge could be reduced to less than £6 each

Thanks for your feedback Dave, flawed as it is (£160 x 12 = £1920)

Truthfully though, to say that all of every contributors £12 goes towards the bandwidth is over simplistic. In fact some of it goes back to the contributor in the form of discounts. Classic Ford Show tickets for instance are sold to contributors at below their cost to the site. Then there's merchandise to be paid for (also discounted for contributors) most of which needs to be bought in reasonable size orders and paid for up front. Generous as I am, that up front payment isn't going to come from my pockets. Nor would any member who ordered something be happy to wait weeks for it to arrive so it must be bought up front, which obviously requires funds. Now if a product line doesn't sell or doesn't sell well, then it's sat there taking up space and not returning the investment made in it.

There are other incidental expenses that running the forum incurs too, a PO box address for instance, food, bunting and stand paraphernalia for bigger shows and gatherings such as the Christmas bash. All in all, the books frequently don't balance.

If you guys are not making 40% on merchandise then something is wrong somewhere. I know our american car club makes a 60% profit on sweat shirts and jackets.

Thanks Darren, I still can't re-subscribe. Also, if I ask for my user name and password to be re-sent (in case i've got it wrong) it doesn't come through. :?
