jamie Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 My sister has a Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 55 plate. The engine has decided enough is enough - head gasket has gone and it appears to have done some damage. Does anyone on here have access to 1.0 Corsa refurb/new engines? Wondering if it's worth replacing it? Or can anyone offer a to do an engine change? Been offered £300 scrap but a new/rebuilt engine seems a better option if it's viable. Does anyone specialise in refurbed Vauhxhall engines? I'm thinking of possibly sourcing another engine and then she can sell the car once it's up and running. Or is it a complete waste of time. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Cheers!
Tall paul Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 Worth doin it I think mate, most ppl are looking out for newish low cc cars and you should get good money for it all done. Ring around some breakers for an engine cause you should get a 90 day warranty with it too
jamie Posted January 8, 2012 Author Report Posted January 8, 2012 Hi Paul, Yeah, thought so. Worth a go. Cheers mate!
4DOOR-SHERWOOD Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 Well worth repairing mate as long as the car is a tidy example! I rebuilt one of these on a 54 plate for a friend last year that had a timing chain problem, very easy little 3 cylinder to work on. Did the car seize up or is it still running? If it hadnt seized I would strip the head off and see whats wrong. If you think an engine is the way to go then check ebay for one or ring your local breakers....be carefull about buying one offline from the random sites as my friend has been caught out twice with people claiming to have them, take the money then not send an engine out!! Good look with the car and dont let it go for £300 mate it would do twice that as spares or repair on ebay!
jamie Posted January 8, 2012 Author Report Posted January 8, 2012 Thanks mate, I'll have a look about. A lot of engines when they are out of the car claim to be running but I guess you'll just have to take a chance.
