Russboy Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Hi guys I would like a little advice if Poss. Whilst fitting a zetec engine to type nine gearbox I put the gearbox on on the piss . And when bolting it put there was a big bang and I broke a bit of the block off. Do people think this would cause a prob or not. It's the one about 2 o'clock if u r looking at the flywheel Many thanks
Ken B Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Well iirc correctly the Zetec 1.8 and 2.0 has one less mounting hole anyway than the pinto/x flow depending where the starter fitted originally. So I'm guessing you're gonna be two holes down. I'm guessing again it will still be held in by two at the very top and by the 3 o clock and 9 o clock bolts.... you might get away with it.
MK2Ed Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 I'd agree, the starter can rob one with the Pinto also and with the alloy bellhousing it's usual for at least 1 to become threaded and people continue with no issue. Also depends what you plan to do with the car - heavy track action/drag racing may compromise further but that's obviously an unknown...
The Transplanter Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 If you still have the 9 & 3 o'clock doweled bolts and the two upper most then you wont have a problem.
