I'm seriously considering changing my original 4 speed box to the type 9 , she pulls like a train through the gears but revs high when cruising and want a bit of middle ground really , are my quick shift and clutch compatible as both done less than 1k , if anyone has a good type 9 please let me know

Think it's a matter of preference, my rs2000 I had I couldn't bear to put a 5speed in it because the Rs box has such a nice change, and I knew it would never be the same with an old sierra box lol

But it's essentially the same gearbox with a 5 th gear grafted on. The first four gear ratios are identical.

well yeah sorry i know but the one i had such a nice drive to it, i was just didnt wanna mess about with really, and from experience i dont think the shift is as good on a 5 speed even with quickshifts, but each to there own, my mk1s having a 5 speed though lol

with my tin corner i needed a type 9 cause i use it everyday and just that extra gear makes a hell of a difference in saving fuel after ive done my b road blasting the first type 9 i had was out of a capri even though it was trashed (didnt know untill after fitting :banghead: ) the speedo was correct..... the next box was out of a old saff and was five mph out so ive got to change the speedo drive gear, the box has been fitted for four years and still havent got round to it. but hey my car is 5mph faster now
