Rookie Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Has anyone changed their wipers on a mk1 escort to two speed and so they "park". i did post in mk1/mk2 escort page but got no reply. Can anyone please help.
Admin Vista Posted March 21, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 21, 2012 Only the very early m1 Escorts are single speed, most have two speed anyway and they should park as a matter of course. If they don't, there's a fault with them. The "park mechanism" is built into the motor.
Rookie Posted March 21, 2012 Author Report Posted March 21, 2012 It is an early mk1 escort, 1969, switch on dash,turn wipers on, to stop them you turn switch off ,the wipers stop where ever they happen to be at the time of switch off. I want them to park when i turn them off would also like two speeds. can i get upgrade from anywhere so they do this, if so where and what do i need ? Thanks for answering query and any advice appriciated.
Savvi Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Im guessing the wiring has been modded on yours, as Vista says it should be self parking even with single speed wipers. This is how it should look and what you need to convert, you may need a differant switch as well as the early cars have a wider switch.
