Ste-V Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Evening all, basically I'm thinking of buying a Mk2 Granada 2.8 Ghia X auto saloon. If I buy it, it will be my daily driver, and will be used for trailering my Mk1 Fiesta rally car about. What I want to know is, what are they like as a daily driver? I've raced a couple but I've never had a road goer, so what are they like on juice? Are they 'driveable/comfy' enough to use as a daily? Obviously Ill waxoyl it to death underneath and keep it clean to try keep the rust away Would probably throw a type 9 in too.. Thanks for any advice in advance
Justmark Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 take it to the track ware they belong .they are thirsty as a road car because it will do more than a few laps.i had one to tow my bangers about before i raced it, really comfy to sit in and drive but they are better on the ovals, just my opinion mate there are some nice ones about but if i get me hands on any now my race number would come back out for the day.
banarama Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 i had a 28i ghia x, many moons ago ,i liked it a lot at the time
JAY PS Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Great cars ive owned more than most on here ,i doubt it would be practical for a dailey 15-18 mpg is the normal 30 on a run They are good value if you buy a good one ,
Ste-V Posted April 26, 2012 Author Report Posted April 26, 2012 Ok thankyou all It was mainly the mpg I was wondering about.. Is that mpg as an auto or manual? Or are they roughly the same? Thanks, Steve.
mk3cokebottle Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 i love em , sound good , comfy and reliable plus its an osf had 5 or 6 and driving one as a daily at the moment to be fair if your worried about mpg your better off buying a fiat panda or mini and being uncomfortable and looking like a tit aswell lol , if you want any car the size of a mk2 granada fuel economy is blown out the window straight away you pay for the size and luxury
Mr.Sumo Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 As Chris and Jason said mate , blinding cars , but fuel econamy is shite , especially round town ! They are good tow cars , but make sure you fit an oil cooler , especially if you got a Auto box, tends to geta tad hot You want economy and good fuel...buy a Paxo or similar , you want comfort and style with that drinks fuel like an Alchoholic drinks White Diamond round town , buy a Granny
Savvi Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 They did a diesel version best of both worlds then
Ste-V Posted April 27, 2012 Author Report Posted April 27, 2012 I don't expect them to do 50 to the gallon, just wanted a rough idea to be honest, would be happy if I can get around 20 to the gallon with a type 9.. Just selling an Impreza which Ive been using daily, so Im used to almost single figure mpg! Thanks all!
Mr.Sumo Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 Savvi : good shout , but when was the last time you saw a Diesel/Taxi spec mk2 Granny ???? !!!! That would mean getting a mk3 Granada /Scorpio....and there pants Steve : Get the mk2 Granada....you know it makes sense
