GJUK Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Hi, I've got Quarter bumper brackets on the front of my mk1, no quarter bumpers yet though. Looking to get the car MOT'd asap, but I thought that perhaps the brackets sticking out might fail an MOT? Thoughts this this please guys? Thanks. Jon
russ105e Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Yes it would fail on having exposed sharp edges
Andy44Boz Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Could always cover em with a bit of foam for mot, we used to have to with spot light bits on the rally car. Might be easier if the bolts are seized
w p e Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 rap rags around them and tape them up then its ok unless you get an arsehole
GJUK Posted May 14, 2012 Author Report Posted May 14, 2012 rap rags around them and tape them up then its ok unless you get an arsehole Cheers. I phoned the MOT guy and he said "yeah just get some pipe foam things and wrap em in it" Done just that. Thanks Jon
allanmex Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 the failure is "a sharp edge caused by damage or corrosion" ive been an mot tester for 15 years, and i wouldnt fail your bumper brackets. you should get an advisory at most
SebringRS Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Even an advisory seems abit much, concidering if you have the bumper brackets there, your obviously gunna put bumpers on them, if you werent having bumpers at all you wouldnt have them there, but i know what your saying with the sharp edges etc.
