SebringRS Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 Realized today, that since finishing the 1100 this year, id never really got round to taking any decent shots of the finished product, so today I had a free afternoon, the sun was out and had some fuel to burn, so I went out in search of a nice spot to take some piccies Couple of arty ones
The Transplanter Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 Nice clean ole motor Not sure about the headlights though
stuartp Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 looks bloody good such a great first car! mine was one of these i loved it but you know, it's not a mk1 escort!
SebringRS Posted July 25, 2012 Author Report Posted July 25, 2012 Wouldn't of minded that, could of done it Taz racing style, big V8, tubbed rear end, wheelie bars
5tox Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 some really arty pics, really good effort. Where the hell were you to get pure sunshine and clear skies like that?
SebringRS Posted August 5, 2012 Author Report Posted August 5, 2012 An abandoned road in the middle of nowhere, it was when we had that hot spell for a couple of days Went out for the day driving round taking pics
4DOOR-SHERWOOD Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 Lovely pics Tom! Car looks great mate!
SebringRS Posted August 22, 2012 Author Report Posted August 22, 2012 Only taken me 5 months to finish the front end off, but seens the horn decided to stop working (now diagnosed as the button on the stalk, as the horn works fine when tried sepperate ) and I had the grille off, i thought now would be the perfect time to do it, didnt want to take it off just to do it, as the grille tends to be tight against the wings, and ive already caught it once So just wanted to do it whenever the grille had to come off And also the car isnt being used for a few days as the dynamo' not working, got a replacement today, it will be being fitted saturday. So thought i've gotta do something to make the day pass So yeah i blacked out behind the grille, like some of the AVO cars i think it was? Seen here: Mine was probably done alot more half arsed, as i masked it out and just used satin black, but its behind the grille, so wasnt too fussed as to how neat or accurate it was, just looks better
scootlife Posted August 25, 2012 Report Posted August 25, 2012 Looks great. Not a fan of Tawny, but got to say it looks fabulous on your car. Would look the nuts slammed on some Lotus steels too.
SebringRS Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 Looks great. Not a fan of Tawny, but got to say it looks fabulous on your car. Would look the nuts slammed on some Lotus steels too. Cheers mate, when i first bought it I hated the colour, was gunna change it to Le Mans green as thats gotta be my dream coloured Mk1, but as it was already tawney inside etc. It was just alot easier to repaint it original colour, the colour has grown on me now, probably as there arent many around, although saying that was parked by 2 other Tawney Mk1' at Classic Ford Show But yeah, as for the car, the dynamo charging problem was fixed last week, then wednesday my engine mount decided to snap in half, so that was changed yesterday, and whilst fixing that we found a fuel leak from the carb, got it home quick and went and picked my new carb up last night from a mate, so thats going to be fitted this afternoon, hopefully all the problems sorted for now Glad i found it yesterday and not enroute to the summer show next sunday, that could of ended horribly
SebringRS Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 Thats the old mount it was virtually new, so i've now been told to stop wheel spinning And the used, complete ones fitted This is now the usual look that my car has
SebringRS Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 Oh and got busy with my computer skills to sort out a engine decal A small twist on this decal My idea, hopefully will go and see my sticker maker this week and get one made
SebringRS Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 Well the new engine mounts (bonded type ones) lasted not very long So i opened my wallet and got these off Burton instead Got the metal part of the mounts sprayed up last night Then went this morning to get the nuts, these are being fitted at the weekend, and hopefully will last long enough so I can use them on the new engine too
Lil Bill Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 very nice just not too keen on the headlights
SebringRS Posted September 26, 2012 Author Report Posted September 26, 2012 Not many people are Even ive started to go off them, especially when they were causing me agro after being in and out a couple of times Couldnt get the drivers side top bulb to stay in, everytime I put the light back into the bowl, they stopped working, managed to sort it, and they've been alright since If they start doing it again, they are coming out Quite like the golf cross hair lights

SebringRS Posted September 26, 2012 Author Report Posted September 26, 2012 Yeah it is, the thing is, you have to split the sidelight wire into two, for the bulb at the top and the bulb at the bottom, thats easy and is working perfect, its the way the two bulbs fit into the light itself that messes it up, the holder is obviously smaller than the bit with the bulb in, so it stays in the light, but as soon as you put it through the hole, it pop the bulb out Its alright for now though, just means if i do ever change it, ill have to rewire it again to suit one sidelight wire No big job i suppose
SebringRS Posted September 28, 2012 Author Report Posted September 28, 2012 Couple more jobs done this week, seens its gone cold all of a sudden, I thought rather than wait til the salt hits the roads to waxoyl my car, id do it now. All I could find in the garage was used engine oil, so just gave it a quick brush with that until I get some waxoyl But went out today in the rain, and its all stayed on, so should be ok for now And also, a couple of months back i bought some 1.3 Mk1 front struts, for my disc brake upgrade, I figured the engine was only going up to a 1300, so these should be fine, got all the seal kit, got my lowered springs (-2") and the inserts are fine Havent got round to fitting them all together yet, but figured, seens the engine has about 70-80bhp, i might need a bit more help, so got these My dads got them on the V8 one, and says they're great, and got £26 i couldnt complain
Lil Bill Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 lights sound like a bit of a mission haha will be much better with them pads!
