welshmike Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 Ok, Im new around here so i thought i would post some pictures of my old Fords so far. My first was a Mk2 Escort estate for my first car when i was 17, but i cant find any photos of it! For the last 2 years Ive been working in Australia, while I was there I had 2 Escorts. The first was this 4 door, it had sat in a field for years and i got it dirt cheap but the shell was almost perfect. Fixed it up, repainted it then got an offer i couldnt refuse so i sold it and bought this .. (Landy was mine too) Got rid of the ugly side windows, dropped a pinto in it, GAZ suspension, HiSpec brakes, LSD etc and it ended up like this.. I had so much fun bombing round Brisbane in this. A year before I went to Oz I bought my Capri, Spent the year doing it up and it looked like this when i left it.. I got back about a month ago and decided I didnt like the front spoiler or my custom arch flares. And the paint wasnt good enough! So I've changed them and repainted it, so it looks like this.. So its now almost ready for the road, just a few odd bits to do. So what does everyone think?
lotusless Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 Fair play to you for getting 2 cars while you were in Aus i bet all the shells are mint over there ? the van looks the nuts
welshmike Posted October 12, 2012 Author Report Posted October 12, 2012 Thanks mate, and yeah theres some realy nice ones out there, and because they dont rust as much theres still quite a few standard 'one lady owner from new' ones knocking about. The photos do make the van look better than it was if im honest, and it was quite rotten under the skin but I loved it!
XjamesX Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 Lovely cars, must be great over there if your car doesn't have to spend most of it's time sat in the garage like here wishing it wasn't raining!
Mad Mex Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 fooking loving that capri looks hard as nails
welshmike Posted October 17, 2012 Author Report Posted October 17, 2012 Thanks mate! Im itching to give it some proper abuse, just waiting for the new V5 to come!
onlyrwd Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Im moving to Perth in about 18 months, one Im sorted Im going to track down a good Mk1 or 2, will be able to afford one by then This looks good for $5000!
welshmike Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 Found out some interesting info on my Capri and thought i'd share it, so its a 1973 car, last time it was taxed was '79! Could the 46k on the clock be genuine? does anyone know how i can track down the previous owners? or get any more of its history?
onlyrwd Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 Write to DVLA and ask for a copy of the previous owners, give them the reg Vin and your details. In return you will get photocopies of everything they have...just send a cheque for a fiver with the covering letter.. I have done it a few times It can take 6 weeks sometimes though
stuartp Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 that capri is one of the best looking cars i hath ever seen!
welshmike Posted November 6, 2012 Author Report Posted November 6, 2012 Thanks for the comments guys, the car had its MOT last week and failed on 3 stupid little things; front number plate not visible enough, no rubber seal on the petrol cap and insuficient screen wash fluid!? They were all sorted by the end of the same day, so its now on the road I'm loving driving it, gets loads of attention. just paranoid leaving it anywhere! Here is a little 'action' photo.
jayremedy Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 That's the dogs danglies. Lovely car
