borneo Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I want to get my Capri closer to the ground (about 1 1/2") but i'm not sure the best way of doing it. I was thinking of using lowering blocks on the rear but i've also heard that decambered single leafs are an option. I've been told that these increase axle tramp but the springs on the car are single ones anyway so i figure i'm going to get this problem if i use the blocks. Basically how do i get it low without the axle tramp problems? I've also read about five linking on classic fords although i've not seen it on any capris. Is this an option. i'm guessing it involves adjustable coilovers and lots of cash? Oh and the front. Lowering springs right? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Hi mate, you can use blocks on the rear leafs, to be honest, unless you are ragging the grannies out of your car everyday and on a track, you wont really notice much difference. One thing I would fit though which is quite reasonably priced is an Axle Location Kit. This involves two bars that attatch to the axle near the diff, and they go out diagonally and clamp to the leaf springs. As for the front, just lowered and uprated springs will do the trick.
4parajon Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Have a look here mate, Neil's spent a lot of time and money working out what works and what does'nt. http://www.zyworld.com/caprisport/1_suspension.htm
mk1nurburg Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 i dropped mine 2'' originally mate, used single leafs decambered 1'' on the back and a -1'' lowering block and on the front i uprated to the 2.8 bilstein shocks (which you'l already have) and used rally desing -2'' springs. i will also vouch for the axle location kits as i used to give mine some real abuse and she stuck sooo well but if you wanted it to slip out then it would but you could control it alot easier. car looked ace when you popped into work. paul
