5tox Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 What sort of work would be involved? and what sort of costs. was just flicking through ebay and an escort RS turbo engine come up, initially it sounds like cheap power, my mates kept up with my 300+bhp cossie or would it be a total ball ache to get one to work in a RWD escort

Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 i used to fully rebuild my 1600cvh's 1600n/a on a 32/36 but i was running them to 9000+ rpm lots of mods done to them, raced it every where, i got over 130bhp n/a on 1mm rebored but it pushed the engine past its limmits and even with uprated rst oil pump and bigs/mains i still had one do 1400miles (due to a wanky oil pump (would do my whole award winning speach) but we all know some of the shit parts burton sell and out sorce on so no warrenty) all the time oil changed weekly valvoline, plugs monthly, cam belt every 1000miles and if it made 10000miles it was very good there cheep for a reasion i did 4 in 18months
livewire7116 Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 my mate had a zvh in his mk2 fester, it was built by a guy who worked for JRE but everytime it was over revved it used to pump the lifters solid and pop a rocker, they tried all sorts to get over the problem but in the end he just put a zetec in and worked fine from then on

Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 yer very try and the mfi on the escort is poop and there is no cps hole on the escort so u cant run elecy ingnition (or you spend about 4-6 hours drilling with a hole saw to make a cps hole in the block as i have had to do this)
