Streetfighter Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 As an estimate how close would you say is too close? I ask because I fitted 2 fuel pumps on the left side of the fuel tank on the Cortina (MK1) and it occurred to me after routing all the lines etc that the exhaust goes that side. Dick I know. I still wanna route the pipe over the axle but it's gonna be tight.. I can't see the pumps melting of the fuel hitting flash point. Bikes .ru. fairly close after all..
Admin Vista Posted November 7, 2012 Admin Report Posted November 7, 2012 Assuming it's not actually touching them and can't come into contact with them through movement of the exhaust on its mounts, I can't see the exhaust being hot enough that far back to be any real issue. If you were talking in the engine bay by the exhaust manifold then yes probably but the temperature right at the rear is probably cool enough to touch without it being too much of an issue. Measure it and see what it reaches after a good run at speed.
Streetfighter Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Posted November 7, 2012 I did think about modifying an exhaust heat shield or wrapping it if it came to it. It's gone turbo so I wasn't sure if the exhaust would be hotter or not?
