Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 2, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 2, 2007 What's a Rickman You will need to wait 10 days from registering to post pics
teamtom Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 its a little jeep like a Suzuki SJ, all body completely made from fibreglass. Its a kit car made out of mk2 escort parts
Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 2, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 2, 2007 I see .... I've never heard of them
teamtom Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 ill have its pic up when the forum allows me lol
Messenjah Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 mk2 escort chassis ... WHY would u do that to an escort ???
teamtom Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 hey thats my rickman lol!!!!! it isnt an escort chassis and mate i dont appreciate somone implying my car is a waste of time and crap thank you no one "did that" to an escort. its what you call a kit car. It comes with its own chassis and own body. Escort parts fit into it. IE- you go down the breakers and see what u can get. You also order bits from the suppliers.
teamtom Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 thanks antz, thats what i thaught when i got it for a measly £200 - brand new gear box, and 1700 x-flow. Thank you very much, please come again
Daggle Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Just a tip for ya, everyone on here loves the OSF's so don't expect to many compliments on your ride, but its up to you. Good luck to ya mate
teamtom Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 hiya, thanks daggle, i see it as a ford as that is what it is underneath. All running gear is mk2 escort. Its a ford in my eyes
antz Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 there is one of them about 9 miles away from me. its virtually a ford and in my eyes it counts i think they are great machines and would love to have a good go in one off road! (im a 4x4 nut as well )
teamtom Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 yeah dude im 4x4 nuts too mate, im not sure it would be that good though, being RWD. but you never know
antz Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 dont know. the suzuki sj is rear wheel drive (until you knock it into 4x4) and its fabulous cos its so light! best thing to do is go out in the fields and have a go! take a mate and a tow rope incase you get stuck
Admin Vista Posted February 3, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 3, 2007 This sounds like an "is my kit car an OSF" thread Duttons and Rickmans have never been my cup of tea, but then neither are Z cars. If you like it that's what counts.
MightySprocket Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 don't see the point in it personally.... you could make a packet selling the box and engine on eBay though and maybe grow plants in the shell
Wessie Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 I'd much rather put the running gear into something much prettier . . . . . . like a mk2
810 OUT Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 crazy conversion, will look good with a fresh coat of paint!
Coff Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Being both a Mk2 nut and a Suzuki nut, I think it sounds really exiting! I'd love to try one of those, although as I understand it, it's only RWD? It's probably better than the SJ roadwise, the SJ both sucks and blows on the road, my SJ413 can't even do 50 mph on the highway if there's a slight (VERY slight) uphill... I can't wait to see pics of your kit car!
Daggle Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 I worked for Suzuki a few years ago and used to take the SJ413 off roading a fair bit, one time (at band camp ) we pulled a Land Rover out of a ditch in the snow with it...
arch Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 there was another kit 4x4 thing called a j-go jeep on a ford base
ALL4SHOW Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 there was another kit 4x4 thing called a j-go jeep on a ford baseyep the jago jeep boys bought alot off me back in the day alot of kit cars are made up of ford under pinnings cos they were cheap (way back when ) & reliable im trying to find a bloke near me thats got one as he said he had a load of spares in his garage from when he had his jago & other kit cars
