newbie seeing advice

hi all. i have just bought some minilite alloys , 7 x 13 offset -7. i have a 4 door mk1 escort with standard arches , standard shell. normal suspension. the company who i bought the wheels off suggested tryes 175 x 50 r13. just want to make sure that would be ok before i buy the tryes. was recomended to come on here as i got the lancs rs owners club. thanks paul

Welcome to the site Paul, the 50 profile tyres might look a bit lost in the arches of a standard height car imo.

maybe 60 profile might be better but hopefully someone with mk1 tyre knowledge will help you out.

Are you planning on lowering it at all?

 

Depending on the offset at the rear, you 'may' have to roll the rear arches,

 

Fronts I think will be fine, unless you have drums on the front then I wouldn't know

 

I have 175/50's and they give a slightly stretched look, the 7"s do look pukka and the 175/50's give it a slammed look

 

The 50 profile will reduce your rolling radius tho, knocking a little bit off your top speed, but not much

hi. thanks for your replys and advice. I am thinking of lowering it poss 1 and 1/2 inches. will see how much room i have once the wheels are on. will post some pics when done.
