No, its not a new sexual position or a treatment at the dentists . The Queen of The Netherlands is 65 and is stepping aside (as her own mother did years ago) to allow her son to take over as King. I cant see our Queenie ever doing that but do you think she should step aside for Charlie or hang on in the hope William will outlive him to be the next King? Or .... do you think the Royal family should go altogether? Personally I like the Royals but I think William will do more for the image of our country than Charles .... as for the Queen abdicating - I think she should stay til she can no longer rule

I hope someone has an opinion on my rather grown up post :D:D:D

I'm not strictly speaking a Royalist but only because I think Phil the Greek is a poisonous old git who has spent most of his privileged life looking down on people.

I had the good fortune to meet Princess Di (twice) and misfortune to meet Phil the Greek (once). She made everyone present feel comfortable and seemed genuinely interested in whoever she was talking too. He on the other hand quite clearly saw people as "his subjects" and was largely disinterested in you, except for laughing at his own often distasteful witticisms that is. If Prince William has more of his mother in him than his grandfather (which he seems to) I'm sure he'll make a good King.

Old Liz herself I take my hat off to. She's Britain's eldest states doris and has probably done more to promote GB plc on a global scale than anyone else in history. And she's been doing so for over 60 years, from the young age of 26. She's now 86 and so is still working some 26 years after most women would have retired. You have to at least respect her for that surely? Oh and I do think she should step aside, not because I particularly fancy Charles as King, more because I think she deserves a rest and to enjoy what's left of her old age.

Oh and the stuff about the Royals sponging off all of us doesn't bear scrutiny either. The Queen's accounts are available online and show that the Royal family actually cost the taxpayer less than £1 per person per year. I have no problem with £1 of my annual tax revenue going to them.

Minor Royals like Prince Michael of Kent, the "Beatrices" and pseudo Royals like Fergie the toe sucker can all kiss my backside though.

Yes possibly...................but if the Queen is falsifying her accounts and her Tax return, she's pretty brave to publish them all online for public download and scrutiny!

Well said Vista! I quite like Queenie and Wills 8)

Me too, but I loved Princess Di I have a picture of her somewhere taken in the Ships engineering control centre when she came to visit us. Unfortunately I'm not in the photo (I was in the room, I was sat in the Chief of the watch's chair) as I was sat there mouth open like a goldfish, in fact I think I was lucky not to have been seen drooling!:lol:

I'll dig the pic out and scan it.

Got no major issues with the royals - but....

Lizzy should, as Scott says, step aside to enjoy retirement.

William for King - Xmas day, 2013

Here you go, Princess Di was the Ship's sponsor from when she was commissioned in Falmouth in 1988 right up to her untimely death, she used to visit us every few years.

And a much younger me (circa 1991) sat at the back of the room thinking some very inappropriate thoughts! I'd forgotten how dark my hair used to be :(
