would anyone have any ideas whats up, on idle and when driving along there is a clicking sound, or could be that something is rubbing against something, its rather annoying and i dont want it failing and causing more damage than is needed.

On alternators I've had the long screws that go the full length of the alternator, holding them together, shake loose.

I've also had the belt tensioner link break, and the bolt at the water pump end of the tensioner strap come loose.

Quick spanner check mate

If it's a revver they can shake themselves to bits. The fact you say dynamo is not pointing to a high spec engine....

Dynamo pulleys are bigger than alternater pulleys as dynomos are less efficient so need to be higher geared. You may be revving it harder than designed if you've bolted it to a tuned lump.

Im pretty sure its the dynamo thats making the noise, as its coming from down in that area, so no where near the carb, ill try giving one of my local ford mates a visit and see what they say, they know much more than i do.
