Posse Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 So who used to smoke ? And what are the tricks of the trade lol
Admin Vista Posted February 27, 2013 Admin Report Posted February 27, 2013 Me, I started when I was about 13 or 14. Starting smoking was the worst thing I ever did and quitting one of the best. I finally gave it up completely about 10 years ago and it isn't easy but you can feel the benefits pretty quickly. Financially straight away in fact.
5tox Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 I never started mainly because im tight as a nuns chuff me and the kids managed to persuade my fiance to pack it in, im very proud of her as she went cold turkey

Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 27, 2013 Admin Report Posted February 27, 2013 Well done Darren I gave up about 15 years ago .... just went cold turkey like you. Worst time for me was after my evening meal
walsh253 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 My dad gave up after being taken into hospital ,smoked for 30 odd years never had another one and put the money away that he would of spent and had a treat once a year! But says he still gags for one 20years later
SmokeEm Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 I have been off them nearly 4 years now... what you need is a bunch of nutters blowing smoke in ya face & generally winding you up! Follow that with your own room on here to track your daily progress
Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 28, 2013 Admin Report Posted February 28, 2013 Is it really 4 years Dave  How time flies!
Mrs O/H/C Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Didn't realise that was nearly 4 years ago... But you did it Both Leadfoot and I smoke but can't seem to stop. Tried patches, tablets etc and just had horrible side effects
popeye Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 smoked for most of my life.. not realy tried to pack up but when i did, but just started to eat more so i just try to smoke less...smoked a pipe since 18..still do from time to time. and the odd cigar ( well you have to treat your self...don't you )
fieldy1972 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Started smoking when I was about 15. Gave up exactly 2 years ago now. As already said, starting was the worse thing I've ever done ( and I've done alot of things ) and giving up was the best thing. I had my eldest (mason) badgering me for a long time to give up and then I had my youngest (miller) born so I thought It was about time. Wasn't really enjoying it anymore. I went down the Champix route. Havnt smoked since and never will again. The girlfriend still smokes but she has quite fiery personality.........so I would rather she didn't stop smoking , to be honest.
fieldy1972 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Probs I’m having is going all into one keeping me awake well waking me up at 4am then thats my sleeping pattern fooked. One other thing I have noticed food tastes better and cups of tea taste stronger . I used to be about 20 ish a day man I'm lucky if I get 4-5 hours sleep a night mate. Been like that for years. Thats why im a coffee addict now. Food does taste better but be careful. You could so easily pile on the weight and turn into a porker. Well done for giving up. Best thing ever mate. All the best.
johnnyspencer Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 after trying everything there is and failing many times, one day i decided to just stop! that was over 2 years ago now. if you want to stop you will but you have to want it.
tony1969 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 i read abook by Allen Carr, and i couldnt recommend it any more highly. that was nearly 20 years ago and havent wanted a fag since. back then fags worked out at £20 a week, which turned into £1000 a year. before reading the Allen Carr book i had spent 2 years constantly trying to stop smoking with no luck at all, i was a proper addict (or mug). if read properly you will realise its actually a piece of p:ss to stop smoking using this book. after my first year being free of the fags, i went up to chester to buy a "72 mk3 cortina with only 17k on the clock and rare green interior in timewarp condition. with saving up a bit more fag money it didnt long to slam it and put a 2.8i and 5 speed in it. i can honestly recommend this book to anyone wanting to stop smoking. there is 2 versions of this book, a thin one and a thick one. id go for the thicker book as it contains more details. you can probly still buy them from wh smith/ebay/amazon etc.

sidpf1972 Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 the only good thing about smoking is the tax you smokers pay,and when someone is ill they get pref over smokers there is no valid good reason to smoke sorry to preach but this isnt 1920 anymore we all know what smoking does to yourself and others close to you
