5tox Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 Has anybody used this stuff before? ive sanded back the inside of my heater bubble but there are still the remains of some lightly pitted in rust, i dont really want this comming back through so bought myself some kurust, Painted the stuff on and its gone a real dark purple which its supposed to apparently. Im gonna leave it on for 3 hours then see what im left with Question is do i sand it back before aapplying primer or just prime straight over the top? is this stuff any good, does it actually kill the pitted in rust and stop the rest from spreading
rallyesport04 Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 i didnt think this worked very well for me wire wheel did a much better job
5tox Posted March 9, 2013 Author Report Posted March 9, 2013 I reckon ill just see how i get on with it Jon, at the end of the day im re-attatching it with rivnuts so i can have it back off again in 2 mins with an allen key rather than twatting about drilling out spot welds To be honeest there was very little rust left at all after sanding it, just a few marks where it had pitted slightly
trevb Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 I've always sanded over it in the past, and its done the job ok, but if you can get a wire wheel in there Best of luck!
5tox Posted March 9, 2013 Author Report Posted March 9, 2013 Cheers mate! seems to have gone on ok, only time will tell how good this Kurust stuff really is
Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 painting the hell out of my car after i wirewheeled it all
Fiesta Steve Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 It will hold the rust back for a while but thats it. Best to wire wheel and when you think it looks rust free, then use the kurust as there will still be tiny rusty pits that are hard to see and the wire wheel doesn't get.
